Corban University Athletics announced in June of 2016 that Abigail Farler was hired as the new head coach of the Warrior Softball program. In her first year at Corban, Farler guided the Warriors to the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular-season championship and a trip to the NAIA World Series Championship contest, finishing as the National Runner-Up.
During the historic 2017 season with the Warriors, Farler led Corban to a 46-13 overall record - the best mark in program history. While setting numerous school records and advancing further than any other Corban team (all sports) before them, the Warriors laid the foundation for success both on and off the field moving forward.
After an accomplished playing career at NCAA Division I, Marshall University, Farler spent the last three years at Western Oregon University (WOU), helping lead the Wolves as an assistant coach to the NCAA Division II West Regionals following winning the GNAC regular season and tournament titles in 2014. In 2016, she led the Wolves once again back to the GNAC Tournament, coming up just short of capturing the program’s second-straight crown.
During her time at WOU, Farler coached multiple pitchers to NFCA NCAA Division II West Region and All-GNAC Honors. She joined the Wolves after serving as an assistant coach with the Colorado School of Mines, helping lead the team to a school-record 40 wins in 2013. During her time with the Orediggers, Farler coached one player to NFCA First-Team All-America honors and helped the team finish ranked No. 11 in the national polls after advancing to the NCAA Softball Championships.
Prior to Colorado, Farler ran her own pitching clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., providing area athletes one-on-one instruction while serving as an instructor at numerous clinics. During that time, she also served as an assistant coach for both the Chaparral High School and Saguaro High School varsity teams.
Her playing career at Marshall University was a standout one, as she was named to the Conference USA All-League team and was a two-year captain on the squad. Following her career with the NCAA Division I Thundering Herd, Farler played professional softball with Utrecht Centrals in the Netherlands.
Farler graduated from Marshall in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education as a member of the Dean’s list. She is married to her husband, Matt Farler, and they have a daughter (Aubrey) and a son (Griffin).
