SALEM, Ore. – Corban University Athletic Director Greg Eide announced on Tuesday that Head Softball Coach Nathan Ohta has concluded his tenure as head coach, effective immediately. Upon completion of the recent Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament, Eide and Ohta discussed the needs of the program moving forward and came to a mutual agreement that a change in leadership would benefit the program.
"I would like to thank Nathan for his efforts these past 10 years building our softball program," commented Eide. "In leading Corban's team, he has worked tirelessly to lay a foundation for success in the future. We wish Nathan and his family the best as they pursue what the Lord has in store for the next chapter of their lives."
While his coaching responsibilities have concluded, Ohta will continue to perform his duties as assistant athletic director until June 30.
Ohta stated, "I have truly been blessed to be part of the softball program at Corban. Over the last 10 years, I have had the opportunity to coach some outstanding athletes and young women. I am confident that God will continue to use Corban softball in the furtherance of His Kingdom. I will be exploring new opportunities both within and outside the coaching world, and am excited to see where the Lord leads next."
Ohta departs with a career 257-171 overall record, highlighted by a CCC regular-season title in 2013. A national search is underway to find a new head coach.
