Corban Track & Field Registers Impressive Marks at Raider Invite

ASHLAND, Ore. – While continuing to build towards the 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships, the Corban University track & field teams registered impressive marks at the Raider Invite while competing against many of the best from the west coast on Friday and Saturday.

RESULTS

"The weather was great and our athletes came through with great efforts," said Corban head coach Norm Berney. "Crystal Lynch came through with big-time performances, as did Naphtali Ward, while Jason Bracken and Nathan Martin shined for the Warrior men. We held out many of our Decathletes and Heptathletes so they could get ready for the conference championships next Thursday and Friday in Hermiston."

Corban dominated in the Discus throw in both the women's and men's events, and for the Warrior women, senior Crystal Lynch shined for Corban. While uncorking a throw of 132' 5", Lynch won the event by nearly three feet. Lynch also took third in the Shot Put for the Warriors, registering a distance of 37' 1.75".

Jason Bracken tossed a new career-best mark in the Discus to win the event at the meet for the Corban men, recording a first-place distance of 152' 2", more than eight feet past his previous best throw. Bracken also did well in the High Jump, taking third by clearing a height of 6' 0.75".

Also in the high jump, but on the women's side, Ward placed second overall with a clearing height of 5' 1".

In the sprints, Nathan Martin showed off his blazing speed in both the 100 Meters and 200 Meters. In the 100 meters, he clocked a blistering sixth-place time of 10.94 seconds, just off of his school-record mark. He took third in the 200 Meters with a time of 21.87 seconds for his best time in the event on the year.

Also looking good in the sprints for the Navy and Gold was Kemar Prince, as Prince crossed the finish line in a time of 11.07 seconds in the 100 Meters, while in the 200 Meters, he finished in a time of 22.53 seconds.

Elsewhere on the track, Christian Bohuslavizki placed third in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 55.69 seconds. Moreover, the Warrior men's 4x100 Relay showed that it has the talent to compete with the best, placing third overall in the event with a time of 42.50 seconds.

The Warriors will compete at the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Multi-Event Championships on Thursday and Friday, sending their best Heptathletes and Decathletes to take on the CCC's best. Competition will take place in Hermiston, Ore.
