Bracken Collects All-CCC Honors at CCC Multi-Event Championships for Corban

HERMISTON, Ore. – With Jason Bracken headlining the meet for the Corban University track & field teams, the Warriors performed well and scored big points at the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Multi-Event Championships on Thursday and Friday.

RESULTS

"Our Hep and Dec Athletes did a great job this week and overcame 20 mph winds on Thursday to finish strong today," said Corban head coach Norm Berney. "Both Lindsay and Jason finished close to last year's scores and we scored 17 points on the men's and women's sides which will be counted towards the championships in Ashland in two weeks. The top-three finishes in the Decathlon should be ranked all in the top-seven in the NAIA. Considering the weather, it was a great meet for our athletes and Corban."

Jason Bracken shined for the Warrior men, placing third overall to collect All-CCC plaudits for Corban for the second-straight year. Bracken just missed out on breaking his own school record in the event, totaling 6319 points on Thursday and Friday. His marks are high enough to put him in a good position to have a chance at qualifying for the NAIA National Championships in the Decathlon.

While winning all of the throwing events at the meet, Bracken also performed valiantly in the other events as well for the big score. He won the Shot Put (44' 10.25"), the Discus (147' 7.50"), and the Javelin (177' 11.75") while also taking second overall in the High Jump with a clearing height of 6' 2.25".

Also scoring important points for Corban at the meet, Michael Schmidt placed fifth overall with a career-best mark of 6151 points. With strong efforts across the board, Schmidt clocked the second fastest time in the 400 Meters (51.85 seconds) and the second-fastest mark in the 1500 Meters (4:32.94).

Taking seventh overall at the meet was Reagan Shira, as he also totaled a career-best mark of 5768 points for the Warriors, while Seth Larson finished in 11th overall at the meet with a career-best point total of 4796.

On the women's side, Lindsay Asplund just missed out on collecting All-CCC honors for the second-straight year in the event, as she took fourth overall with a total of 4016 points, just missing out on her career-best mark. Asplund was solid across the board for Corban, showing consistency both days. She finished strong in the 800 Meters with a time of 2:24.67 to vault her into fourth place to score important points for the Warrior women.

Corban track & field athletes are back in action tomorrow at the Clackamas Invite in Canby, Ore. Competition will take place starting at 10 a.m. at Canby High School.
