ASHLAND, Ore. – Craig Boekenoogen and Jason Bracken both made history on Friday at the 2017 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Championships, capturing CCC Titles in the 3000m Steeplechase and the High Jump to headline Corban University's strong first day at the CCC Championships.
Day One RESULTS
Men: 4th Place (67 Points)
Women: 6th Place (28.5 Points)
Boekenoogen got things going on the track for the Warriors, clocking a school record and NAIA 'A' standard time of 9:17.50 in the 3000m Steeplechase, winning the race by nearly seven seconds with an incredible kick. With the win in the distance event, Boekenoogen becomes Corban's first-ever runner to win a distance event at the CCC track & field championships.
Jason Bracken followed up Boekenoogen's performance with an collegiate career-best mark of his own in the High Jump, clearing a height of 6' 6.25" on the final jump of the event to capture the CCC Title in dramatic fashion. After both Bracken and his C of I competitor had missed on their first two tries at the height, Bracken soared high in the air above the bar to register the clearing height and event victory.
