LA GRANDE, Ore. – For the second-straight week, rookie runner Robert Swoboda led the Corban University men's cross country team, taking 10th overall individually at the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Preview Meet on Saturday, helping the Warriors finish in sixth overall as a team.
RESULTS
"The men's team ran a solid race against some very strong competition," said Corban head coach Norm Berney. "We are depending on freshmen to get stronger every race and we felt really good about our effort from our veteran runners. We are still waiting on Sam King to be back in the lineup, and he should be back for the Willamette Meet."
Corban placed sixth amongst the stiff competition as a team, and it was Swoboda that clocked a career-best time in the 8k, crossing the finish line in a mark of 26:17.70 in 10th. Not far behind him was Zane West with a time of 26:37.60 in 15th overall, while Ruben Salvador-Benavides placed 34th with a time of 27:24.20.
Rounding out Corban's top-five runners were Drew Larabee with a time of 28:56.10, while Jonathan Griffes came in at 29:49.20.
The Warriors return to the course in a couple of weeks in Salem when they will compete at the Willamette Invite on September 30 at Bush Park.
