The CSC Academic All-America program is nominated and voted on by members of the CSC, which are the Sports Information Directors/Athletic Communication leaders from every NAIA institution. Each school's nominees must have met the following criteria to be eligible for the award: at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically; have maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA; have participated in at least 90% or started in 60% of the team's scheduled counting contests for the regular season. For men's and women's soccer, a maximum of six student-athletes may be submitted for consideration from each team.
Exactly four members from both the men's and women's teams qualified for the national recognition in 2024, beginning with senior forward Carley Ganchenko who was honored for the third-straight season she has been eligible for the award. Joining Ganchenko as the upperclassmen representation was senior forward Fatima Jimenez who earned the honor in her final season as a Warrior, while sophomore goalkeeper Ava Hayes and sophomore defender Kelsey Guzon were each bestowed with the academic prowess in their first year eligible for the award.
"Congratulations to Carley, Fatima, Ava and Kelsey for demonstrating what it means to be balanced student-athlete for our program," Warriors' women's head coach Travez Whyte detailed. "Each player has made sacrifices to put the team first while being fully present in their academically pursuits. We celebrate you all and are very happy for their recognition from the CSC!""
For the Warrior men's soccer program, four different student-athletes were named to the All-District team for their academic and athletic success over the past fall, two of which had received the honor once before in 2023. Senior midfielders Bryan Nicolas and Irwin Leon repeated as Academic All-District selections, while graduate student midfielder Diego Gonzalez-Ruiz and senior goalkeeper Isaac Pureco joined in on the regionally based award in their final seasons of eligibility.
"Congratulations to our four senior Academic All-District recipients," began men's head coach Josh Rios Noonkester. "They each made a strong impact on our program this year athletically while excelling in their studies. They were an example for all our returning student-athletes, and they will be missed. We're excited to follow their success as they move on to new challenges on and off the field."
An NAIA-based selection committee will determine which of the All-District recipients will advance to the Academic All-American Voting Round, which will be conducted over the next week across the nation. Nominees will be sorted into groupings passed on position they play on the field and will be considered for the studious All-American status with both athletic and academic success being considered.
