"It was another great weekend for our track & field team," said Corban head coach Norm Berney. "We had great performances at both Western Oregon and at Pacific on Friday and Saturday, setting a number of records in the process."
The weekend started out at the John Knight Twilight meet at Western Oregon with Jason Bracken launching a new school record toss in the Discus, registering a distance of 155' 10" to take fifth overall at the meet.
Also setting a record for the Warriors was rookie Robert Swoboda, as after coming back from an injury this spring, he raced against all NCAA Division I runners and took fifth out of 16 competitors in the 5k, clocking a Corban freshman record time of 15:11.39, marking the third-fastest time in program history in the event.
In addition, Sydney Nichol performed well in her first race of this spring while also coming back from an injury for the Warrior women, recording the sixth-best time ever in the 1500m for Corban, crossing the finish line in a time of 5:00.23 to take 10th in the race against primarily NCAA Division I runners.
The Warrior women's 4x100 Relay squad combined for a winning time of 48.89 seconds, as Mackenzie Wilson, Selina Newingham, Leah McClain, and Kristi Childers brought home the win.
Saturday started out with Brooklyn Baker notching a conference-qualifying time in the 10k at the Linfield Jenn Boyman Invite, taking second overall with a time of 42:40.93.
Warrior senior Kristina Yzaguirre went on to win the 1500 Meters at the Pacific Luau Meet in Forest Grove, as she clocked a mark of 5:22.00.
On top of that win, Sarah Falardeau cranked out a toss of 117' 2" in the Javelin, finish atop the leaderboard in the event.
On the men's side in the High Jump, Jett Sobotta overcame the wet and windy conditions to clear a height of 5' 10.75", placing first overall to win the event individually.
