Jason Smarr

Jason Smarr joined the Corban University men’s basketball coaching staff in the fall of 2020 following an accomplished playing career. Smarr is entering his 4th year as Head Coach of the Corban Gold Squad for the 2023-24 season. In his four years at Corban, Smarr has coached and developed players who have moved on to the next level. Coach Smarr has obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Arizona Christian University and a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction from Corban University. Smarr has compiled a strong pedigree as a coach. In 2017, Smarr was the Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach at Paradise Valley Christian Preparatory in Scottsdale, Arizona. In his lone season as head coach, Smarr led the Panthers to a second-place conference finish. In 2018-19, Smarr was an Assistant Womens' Basketball Coach at Arizona Christian University. During this season, Smarr helped guide the Lady Firestorm to a 21-12 record with a national tournament appearance. At ACU, Smarr focused on player development with an emphasis on strength and conditioning. Playing Career: An accomplished athlete himself, Smarr played both basketball and baseball the 2014-15 season at Clark College in Vancouver, Wash. While at Clark, he helped the team win the NWAC Basketball Championship. In the 2015-16 season, Smarr played baseball and basketball at Shoreline Community College, in Shoreline, Wash. Smarr was named a First-Team All-NWAC honoree, while also being recognized as a North Region All-Star. Smarr then transferred to Arizona Christian University, where he played during the 2016-17 season and redshirted the 2017-2018 season. Smarr graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 2018. With one semester of eligibility remaining, he then finished his athletic career as a Warrior. Joining the squad midway through the season, Smarr helped push the Warrior squad towards a CCC Tournament berth, and he received CCC All-Conference Honors for his exceptional numbers (12.1 PPG, 41.1% FG). In 2022, Coach Smarr played professionally for the Salem Capitals. In his lone professional season, he averaged 12.2 PPG while shooting 67% from 2pt and 37% from 3pt for a total of 50 FG%.
