Outdoor Athletic Complex

OAC - March 2022

The Outdoor Athletic Complex (OAC) completed initial construction in March of 2022, and is now home to the Corban University Men's and Women's Soccer, Men's and Women's Track & Field, and Women's Lacrosse teams. Located just off Deer Park Drive SE on the northern side of Corban's campus, the facility is currently "field ready" and will host Men's and Women's Soccer contests this upcoming fall season, but will still be completed over time.

MEETING THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES

The win/loss column of our student-athletes is impressive, but more important is their character on the field of play and their academic performance in the classroom. However, our outdoor athletic complex is a significant barrier to our opportunities for growth in enrollment of student-athletes. It is a tribute to our committed and gifted coaches that they have been able to recruit and retain 63 track athletes without a track, and 142 soccer, baseball, and softball players whose “home games” are often, if not always, played off campus because the Corban campus fields are unplayable due to rain. The softball team plays most of their “home” games near Portland.

INVESTING IN THE GROWTH OF CORBAN UNIVERSITY

Corban Athletics plays an integral part in the mission of Corban University (Educating Christians who will make a difference in the world for Jesus Christ), and a new athletic complex will help the institution accomplish the following:

1) Add at least 130 student-athletes through recruitment/retention.

2) Maximize existing classroom space without building classrooms—all-season fields and lights allow us to accommodate 250 new students without adding fixed costs.

3) Eliminate wasted dollars for renting other facilities and wasted time traveling back and forth for practices and games.

4) Efficiently utilize valuable resources – the location of new fields will be appurtenant to and integrated with the rest of the campus, and aesthetically attractive; what is currently a liability to prospective athletes (and their families) will become an asset that we can showcase—a selling point for prospective students.

5) Accommodate future growth of the complex through the completion of drainage infrastructure.

6) Enter into lease/partnership with schools, city, etc. We can become a lesser rather than a lessee.

ENHANCING THE FAN EXPERIENCE

Corban University fans continue to show why they are the best fans in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) and in the NAIA. The Warriors look forward to being able to give back to the fans with a completely new GAMEDAY experience with newly renovated athletic facilities.
