Corban Men’s Soccer Falls in OT in CCC Title Game – Still Headed to Nationals

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The No. 13-ranked Corban University men's soccer team battled with Southern Oregon University in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament Title match on Monday afternoon, and despite tying the match late to send it to overtime, the Warriors ended up falling in the first overtime, 2-1. Despite the loss, Corban is still set to go to the NAIA National Tournament thanks to having already garnered the CCC's second automatic berth.

"SOU's pressure early made things difficult for us to combine like we wanted to early in the game," said Corban head coach Aaron Lewis. "The guys did a great job adjusting to that in the second half and really dictated the pace of the game the rest of the way. We'll take a few things away from this one and turn our attention to getting back to Florida."

The Warriors surrendered a goal early when SOU played a ball across the face of goal and the Raiders finished off the tap-in to take the 1-0 advantage.

The score remained that way for the remainder for the first half.

In the second stanza, Corban made the necessary adjustments, dominating possession for the majority of the half en route to finally finding the breakthrough when Timur Zhividze whipped in a corner-kick and found Langdon Roscoe who volleyed the ball into the back of the net, tying the match in the 82nd minute of play.

Neither side was able to find the game-winner in regulation, sending the match to overtime.

After a series of long throws in the first overtime stanza, the Raiders finally connected on one, heading the ball into the back of the net directly off of the long throw, winning the contest and the Raiders' (14-6-1) first-ever CCC Tournament Title.

Corban (15-2-4) will find out on Monday, November 13th, who its opponent will be in the NAIA Opening Round. The announcement will come on the morning of the 13th, with the game set to be played on Saturday, November 18th. Stay tuned at CorbanWarriors.com for full details.
