SALEM, Ore.  – A full-stretch diving catch by Megan Rybar in the seventh inning kept the no-hit bid alive, and then Sabrina Boyd finished off the no-hitter, leading the No. 8-ranked Corban University softball team to a 6-0 win over Northwest Christian University on Thursday in the team's Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) home-opener.

"I am so proud of Sabrina and her performance today," said Corban head coach Abigail Farler. "She pitched an outstanding ballgame and Sam did an amazing job behind the plate. Offensively we were able to produce when we needed to which was great. We can see areas where we can continue to improve and are excited to build on this win and come back out strong tomorrow."

Things started well for the Warriors in the first frame, as Rybar ripped a two-RBI double off the left-field wall to put the Navy and Gold up early.

NCU's Emma Jegtvig settled into a groove after that, however, keeping Corban at bay until the fifth inning when Kaylee Buhrkuhl ripped an RBI single and Mahina Chong laced a two-RBI double to put the Warriors up by five runs. In the sixth, the Warriors would add one more for insurance.

In the final frame, Rybar made the incredible diving catch in left field to begin the inning defensively to keep what was a perfect game intact at that point. Unfortunately for the Warriors, Boyd committed a throwing error on the next play, breaking up the perfect game.

Boyd finished off the Beacons, however, limiting the visitors to zero hits over the seven full innings, facing just 22 total batters. For Boyd, it marks her third-straight complete-game shutout, and in Thursday's contest, she struck out seven Beacon batters.

At the plate, both Chong and Rybar finished with two hits apiece, while Ashlyn Englehorn also tallied a pair of hits at the plate for the Navy and Gold.

Corban (13-4, 5-0 CCC) returns to the field tomorrow when it hosts NCU (4-16, 2-5 CCC) at Warrior Field for an 11 a.m. doubleheader.
