Bicycle Kick Leads No. 22 Corban Men’s Soccer to 3-0 Triumph over Evergreen

SALEM, Ore. – Levan Zhividze, the third Zhividze brother to come through the Corban University men's soccer program, scored a spectacular bicycle on Friday afternoon, leading the No. 22-ranked Warriors to a 3-0 triumph over The Evergreen State College.

"It's obviously a great result to start our conference play," said Corban head coach Aaron Lewis, "but I think we also further established how it is we want to play, and took positive steps towards the team we ultimately will be today."

Zhividze opened the scoring for the Navy and Gold when he connected on a full over-head bicycle kick, finding the right-side netting to put the Warriors up 1-0 in 10th minute of play.

Corban then made it 2-0 later in the half when Alan Cruz Ramirez beat his defender and got to the end line, lacing a cross to Alex Segovia who one-timed his shot into the back of the net.

Evergreen began the second half strong, putting some pressure on the Navy and Gold in various spots, forcing Jordan Salim to come up with a couple of big saves in goal. Corban then took advantage of an opportunity late on, as Travez Whyte buried a shot from the left side into the goal, sealing the victory for the Warriors.

Corban (4-1, 1-0 CCC) returns to the pitch tomorrow afternoon when it hosts Northwest University. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. at the CFC Soccer Complex.
