SALEM, Ore. – In the first two games of senior weekend for the No. 17-ranked Corban University softball team, it was a pair of Warrior veterans who shined brightest for the Navy and Gold. Rachel White tossed a complete-game shutout in game one, leading the Warriors to a 2-0 victory over Northwest in the series opener. In game two, Jessie Isham played the walk-off hero, delivering a 3-2 triumph with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

"I'm very proud of the fight I saw from our entire team today," said head coach Abigail Farler after the doubleheader sweep. "I thought we adjusted well on defense, and our pitchers did a great job. The offense was able to do enough to win because everyone did their part. We needed every member of our team to play their role today, and they all did!"
White's gem pushed her record to 8-3 on the 2019 season, dropping her ERA to a team-best 2.12. Sarah Probasco—who got the start and the win in game two—was also exceptional, throwing all seven innings and surrendering just two unearned runs in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Warrior defense sparkled in both games. Reigning Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Gold-Glover Megan Rybar made a tremendous play at the fence in foul territory in game one, earning the second out of the seventh for White.
In game two, Makiah Johnson stole a base hit from Isabella Gonzalez, diving forward to snare a sinking liner right off the outfield grass. A few innings later, Mahina Chong delivered a web gem of her own, sprawling out on a ground ball up the middle, and throwing to first from her knees to retire Hayden Craig.
Offensively, both of Corban's runs in the game-one victory came in the second inning, as Rybar (1-for-2, 2B, R, RBI) and her fellow outfielder Madison Wyllie (2-for-2, RBI) each drove in runs on back-to-back RBI knocks.
The Eagles struck first in the latter half of the doubleheader, plating a pair of unearned runs in the top of the first. Isham—who went 2-for-3 in game one—continued her torrid hitting in game two, launching a booming solo blast (7) over the left field fence to halve the lead in the bottom half of the frame.
Probasco settled in nicely after that, holding Northwest scoreless from that point on.
The Warriors tied it up in the sixth after Kaylee Buhrkuhl reached via an error, Kaycee Arase dropped a bunt single down the third base line, and Rybar perfectly executed a squeeze play. Isham was the hero in the following inning, bringing home Makiah Johnson from third on a walk-off sac fly to right.
Farler praised the leadership of her seniors after the games. "Their leadership today was great. Not only did they help pave the way for the rest of the team, but I also really think they played off of their teammates."
