SALEM, Ore. – After surrendering a goal just 11 minutes into the contest, the (RV) Corban University men's soccer team was unable to find an equalizer against the visiting Evergreen State College on Saturday afternoon at the CFC Soccer Complex, falling to the Geoducks by a 1-0 final score.
The only goal of the game came just 11 minutes into the match, as Maxton Hauser found the back of the net, assisted by Lucas Alcala.
In Corban's search for an equalizer, the Warriors out-shot the Geoducks by a 17-9 margin over the course of 90 minutes. In the second half, Corban fired off 11 shots to just one for Evergreen.
The Warriors caught a break in the 88th minute, when a second yellow card for Hauser forced Evergreen to play down a man in the game's final moments. Corban created a handful of promising chances down the stretch, but the visitors were able to withstand the late offensive onslaught and hold on for the upset victory.
It's Evergreen's first victory over Corban since 2014.
The Warriors (7-4, 6-2 CCC) will wrap up their six-game homestand next weekend, hosting a pair of challenging foes from Montana at the CFC Soccer Complex. Corban will open the weekend series with a match against Providence on Friday (12:30 p.m.), before hosting Rocky Mountain College (3:30 p.m.) on the following day.
