No. 16 Corban Men’s Soccer Seals Series Sweep with Dominating 4-0 Win over OIT

SALEM, Ore. – The No. 16-ranked Corban University men's soccer team delivered another blowout win on Monday, capping off a two-game series sweep of Oregon Tech with a 4-0 triumph at the CFC Soccer Complex.

"We played better today," said head coach Tim Kagey.

Matheus Giron got the scoring started for the Navy and Gold, converting a penalty kick in the 17th minute to put the Warriors on the board. It is his ninth goal of the young season, which is a plateau that only 10 CCC players reached in the entire 2019 campaign.

Less than 10 minutes later (25'), Chadwayne Johnson headed in a beautiful corner kick from Noe Favila, extending the lead to 2-0 with his third of the season.

It was another penalty kick opportunity that led to the Warriors' third score, as a hard collision in the box between the Warriors' Carlos Llamosa and Owls' Sebastian Brunk led to a yellow for Brunk. Llamosa converted the chance, pushing the advantage to 3-0 in the 58th minute.

Adding extra cushion in the 87th minute, freshman Eric Bengana continued his impressive rookie season with his third goal of the season, slotting a low grounder past OIT keeper Mitchell Jillson. Favila was once again an integral part of the score, earning his second assist of the game.

Meanwhile, Justin Keegan extended his scoreless streak to 450 minutes, tallying his fifth shutout of the season between the pipes. He was tested twice, registering a save on both occasions.

The Warriors remain red hot, and have now outscored their opponents by a ridiculous 31-0 margin in their first six counting contests.

Corban (6-0, 4-0 CCC) will hit the road for a two-game set against Northwest University next weekend, with kick off for both matches slated for 3:30 p.m.
