BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The No. 20-ranked Corban University men's soccer team fought valiantly to overcome an early 2-0 deficit on Saturday night, but in the end, the Warriors fell by a 3-2 final score on the road against Baker University.

"We dug ourselves into a deep hole early on and we couldn't quite get out of it," said director of soccer Tim Kagey. "We came out here to play quality sides like today. We will rebound for Monday."

The hometown team got off to a hot start, grabbing an early lead via a 9^th-minute goal from Daniel Jakobe. Gyorgy Kamaras then doubled the advantage in the 31^st minute, finishing off a pass from TJ Libeer to make it a two-goal deficit.

Corban was able to grab some of the momentum back right before halftime, as Nate Sherwood found the back of the net to make it a 2-1 contest.

Andres Labate then delivered an equalizer in the 65^th minute, netting his first official goal as a Warrior to knot the game at two. Alvaro Arche was credited with an assist on the score, his second of the season.

Kamaras put an end to the Warriors' comeback attempt, however, striking again in the 82^nd minute to help Baker regain the lead.

Corban (1-1) will look to bounce back on Monday, remaining in Baldwin City for a highly anticipated early-season matchup with No. 2-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Kick off for the match is slated for 1:30 p.m. CT.
