Corban Men’s Soccer Completes Montana Sweep with Shutout of Argos

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The (RV) Corban University Men's Soccer team (14-1, 9-1) notched their 13th shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over the University of Providence Argos (0-9-1, 0-7-1).

"Great team wins this weekend," Warriors' Head Coach Tim Kagey shared following his team's shutout victory. "We had eight different goal scorers this weekend, with four of them coming in today's match. It's great to come home from this trip with six points."

Corban struck first once again this weekend with a long ball from redshirt freshman midfielder Luis Lopez, whose cross kept sailing and found its way into the upper left-hand corner of the net for his first goal of the season.

Lopez wasn't quite done in the first half, as he earned his third assist of the year by finding sophomore defender Edson Jimenez streaking in the penalty box, who beat Argos' goalkeeper Dante Montgomery to put the Warriors up 2-0 in the 24th minute.

After a long defensive standoff, Corban notched their third goal of the game in the 76th minute off a deflected cross that Montgomery batted away, only for Warriors' senior forward Yuki Onishi to clean up the rebound for his fourth goal of the season.

With the Warriors in full control, Kagey cleared his bench to see his reserve players shine, as junior defender Tristan Erispe notched his first career goal on a long cross from senior midfielder Saad Mohacht, who earned his second assist of the season off the score.

Warriors' graduate student goalkeeper Quinn McCallion (14-1-0) didn't even need to record a save to earn his school-record 13th shutout in a single-season, breaking the mark set in the 2013 and 2015 seasons by Corban all-time great Jordan Farr.

The Warriors offense recorded 16 shots today, with nine going on goal against Montgomery. Jimenez and senior forward Reggie Reyes each tallied three shots apiece, while Jimenez partnered up with Lopez for the game-high in shots on goal with two each.

Montgomery nabbed five saves in the loss today, allowing four goals to drop the afternoon contest. Providence recorded two shots on the day, coming off the feet of defender Mario Arias and midfielder Tomeu Nebot.

With their long road trip in the rearview mirror, the Warriors return home for the first time in over three weeks for their Senior Weekend, as they are set to host Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon University this upcoming Friday and Saturday, respectively, with both games slated to begin at 3pm PDT following the conclusion of the women's soccer matches.
