Warriors Rally in Final Seconds to Earn Senior Night Draw with No. 15 Southern Oregon

SALEM, Ore. – With their backs against the wall and a Senior Night result seemingly slipping away, the Corban University men's soccer team delivered one final moment of magic on Saturday evening. Trailing No. 15-ranked Southern Oregon University in the closing seconds, the Warriors found an equalizer with just 11 seconds remaining as junior midfielder Christ Ramirez buried the game-tying goal to secure a dramatic 1-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) draw at the Outdoor Athletic Complex. The result highlighted a special Senior Night celebration honoring defender Aaron James, goalkeeper Callum Thompson, and midfielder Alejandro Andrade.

"You always hope to get a good result on senior night, but man, what a performance from the guys tonight," expressed Warriors' head coach Jordan Keegan. "We've been fighting through injuries, and every single player did their job tonight. The impact of these seniors was clear on the field tonight, with great performances from Ale and AJ. I'm beyond proud of the way we fought back against a team who is known to usually be on the other end of results like this. As we go into our final two conference games against two very tough opponents, I'm hopeful we can take this momentum and run with it."

Prior to kickoff, the Warriors (5-4-4, 2-4-4) recognized James, Thompson, and Andrade for their contributions to the Corban men's soccer program. The trio helped lead the Navy and Gold into another competitive conference campaign, and Saturday's resilient performance provided a fitting conclusion to their final regular-season home match.

The opening half featured a defensive battle between two sides fighting for critical conference points. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Rylan Davidson kept the Warriors level with three first-half saves, denying quality chances from the Raiders (9-3-3, 5-3-2) while the Corban attack generated opportunities from Ramirez and redshirt junior forward Alvaro Castellon. Despite Southern Oregon holding a slight edge in shots, neither side found the breakthrough before halftime.

The Raiders increased its pressure in the second half, but Davidson and the Warrior back line continued to answer the challenge. The match appeared destined for a scoreless draw until the 89th minute, when Mustafa Daggig finished a chance off an assist from Jonathan Gaspar to give No. 15-ranked SOU a 1-0 lead with just 1:41 remaining.

Instead of folding, the Warriors produced one final surge. After earning a corner kick with 20 seconds left, Corban quickly created a dangerous opportunity in front of goal. With the clock winding down, sophomore forward Jaycob Miller delivered a crucial setup to Ramirez, who found the back of the net at 89:49, knotting the score at 1-1 with only 11 seconds remaining in regulation and sending the Senior Night crowd home jubilated.

Ramirez led the Corban offense with a goal on three shots, including two on target, while Miller recorded the assist on the equalizer. Castellon added two shots, and junior forward Jesus Mendoza registered a shot on goal as the Warriors generated eight total attempts against one of the conference's top defensive squads. Davidson anchored the defensive effort with five saves and repeatedly came up with timely stops to keep Corban within striking distance.

For the Raiders, Daggig scored the lone goal while Gaspar recorded the assist. Southern Oregon outshot Corban 15-8 and received three saves from goalkeeper Daniel Espinosa, but the visitors were unable to protect their late advantage against the Warriors' final-minute push.

The Navy and Gold will look to carry the momentum from Saturday night's dramatic finish into their regular-season finale weekend in Montana as Corban continues its push in the CCC standings. They'll kick off their longest, and final, road trip of the season in Helena against Carroll College (7-4-2, 6-2-1) with a 7:30pm MT/6:30pm PT start time as the Dubs attempt to lock up one of the final spots in the CCC Tournament.
