Warriors Fall to Fighting Saints After Second-Half Scoring Surge

HELENA, Mont. – The Corban University men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 road loss to Carroll College on Thursday night at Nelson Stadium in a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matchup. The Warriors (5-5-4, 2-5-4 CCC) kept the contest within reach through most of the first half before the Fighting Saints (8-5-2, 7-3-1 CCC) scored three times in the opening 17 minutes after halftime to pull away. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Rylan Davidson recorded eight saves for Corban as Carroll finished with 24 shots.

"Despite the score line, Rylan was really good tonight. He kept us in the game through the first half. There's a lot of room for this group to grow, and I'm excited to see what we can become as we continue to grow together," said Corban head coach Jordan Keegan.

Carroll controlled much of the attacking pressure in the opening half, recording 13 shots and earning ten corner kicks. Davidson kept the Warriors within reach with four first-half saves, including stops on attempts from Carroll's Felix Billard and Pedro Teixeira in the 15th minute. Corban's first shot came in the seventh minute when junior midfielder Christ Ramirez sent an attempt high. The Warriors later earned a corner kick in the 37th minute, but Carroll broke through just before halftime. At 39:57, Arnaldo Primera scored off an assist from Miguel Blasco to give the Fighting Saints a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

Carroll wasted little time extending their advantage after halftime. Blasco scored just 1:47 into the second half to make it 2-0, and Billard added another goal in the 55th minute to put Carroll ahead 3-0. Billard struck again at 61:21, completing his brace and pushing the lead to four. Davidson continued to make stops, including saves on attempts from Jake Dicely, Sean Balen, and Sam Loughton during the second half, but Corban was unable to generate a shot after halftime as Carroll maintained control through the final whistle.

Davidson played all 90 minutes in goal for Corban, finishing with eight saves while facing 24 Carroll shots. Ramirez and junior forward Zachary Milczarek recorded the Warriors' two attempts, neither of which were on target. Corban finished with one corner kick and committed four fouls to Carroll's eight.

For Carroll, Billard led all players with seven shots, placing four on target and scoring twice. Primera finished with three shots, one on goal, and the opening goal, while Blasco recorded two shots, one on target, a goal, and an assist. Goalkeepers Noah Jordan and Dane Quinn combined for the shutout, with neither needing to make a save. The Fighting Saints finished with a 24-2 advantage in shots and a 13-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Warriors will close out the regular season on Saturday, October 31st, at 2:30 p.m. MT with a road matchup against Rocky Mountain College, the No. 8-ranked team in the nation. Corban still has a chance to qualify for the conference tournament with a victory over the Bears and some help from other results around the conference. Regardless of the postseason implications, the Warriors will have a chance to finish the regular season with a statement win against one of the nation's top teams.
