Biography

2024-2025: A sophomore member of the Corban men’s wrestling program…Downing competed in 31 matches this season for the navy and gold…He had an overall record of 27 wins and 4 losses…Downing entered in the CCC Championship Tournament as the third seed in the 149 pound weight class with a record of 22-3, finishing in 3rd place…Competed in the NAIA National Tournament for the Warriors scoring 3.0 team points…Holds fifth place in the program for most wins in a single season with 29 wins…Tied for 8th place for the most pins in a single season with 8 pins…Placed at sixth for the highest win percentage in a single season with a .829…Member of the 2024-25 Corban Men’s Wrestling program that finished third at the CCC Championships, with two CCC Weight Class Champions. The team qualified nine student-athletes for the 2025 NAIA National Championships, with 3 NAIA All-American titles, with one of them being Corban’s first individual national champion in the 157- weight class. The program set new all-time records for most dual wins (10), highest winning percentage for a single season (.714), most team points in a single tournament (153.0) and holds the best all-time coaching record (16-7). In addition, the team had their highest finish in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll (13th) and finished in eighth place at the NAIA National Championships for their best finish in program history.

Personal: Representing the solo 149 weight class recruit, Downing brings a diverse resume to the Warriors program. Prior to attending NCAA D2 Lander University, Downing participated in five different sports at Redmond High School including cross country, track and field, football, and tennis. Downing was a two-time state champion, three-time state place winner, and two-time district champion, highlighted by being the Oregon State Champion in 2022 at 145 lbs.

Downing is pursuing a Christian ministry degree with plans of becoming a pastor and coach.
