Sean McCarthy joined Corban Track & Field in 2023 to coach the team’s throwers with his wife, Erika. Together they have coached throwers locally at McNary High School for 8 years prior to coaching at Corban.
After being a lifelong multi-sport athlete, Sean competed in the throws at Northwest Nazarene University. He graduated in 2009 with his business degree, going on to get his MBA from NNU as well. After working in the corporate world, he went back to school to become a mental health therapist in 2016 and practices locally.
It’s hard for him to choose a favorite event to coach, but if he had to choose, it would be a coin toss between shot put and javelin. He is excited to see the throwers grow this year, reaching goals and getting some big PRs.
Sean and Erika have been married for 15 years and have 3 young children, who are frequently seen out on the track too, with another little McCarthy on the way this season. He enjoys lifting weights, playing pickleball, and cooking. He makes a great pizza!
