Jacob Kopra joined the Corban University baseball coaching staff as an assistant in the fall of 2016 following a professional baseball career and an All-American playing career at Corban. Kopra received his Master's in Education from Corban in 2017.
At Corban, Kopra serves the assistant pitching coach and will also be the assistant strength and conditioning coach.
“It is with great excitement I can say Jacob Kopra will be returning as assistant pitching coach," said head coach Derek Legg. "His experience and knowledge of the game will be a huge asset to our pitchers. Kopra and Virtue work great together and that chemistry will lead to huge success for years to come. He and his wife, Caityln, will enhance the family atmosphere for Corban Baseball."
Following an All-American career with the Warriors in which he was named to the NAIA All-America Second-Team and garnered the Conference Pitcher of the Year accolades, he signed a professional baseball contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. While with the Angels, he pitched for the minor league teams in Orem, Utah (rookie ball), and at the Class A level in Burlington Iowa.
While at Corban, he boasted numerous records, including single-season ERA, most wins, most shutouts, most innings pitched, and ranked in the top-five in strikeouts and games started to go with the second-best ever career ERA. He became the program's first-ever All-American.
During his undergrad, he completed a B.S. of History in 2013. He enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling. He is currently teaching high school history in Portland, Ore., and he and his wife Caitlyn reside in Gresham.
