Mankin Leads Warriors to Double Overtime Win

BOX SCORE

ASHLAND, Ore.
– Freshman Rileigh Mankin (Manteca, Calif.) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 105th minute, as Corban's women's soccer team rebounded from its first conference loss of the season with a 1-0 double overtime win over Southern Oregon Saturday at University Field.

After yesterday's heart-breaking 3-2 loss to Oregon Tech, Corban came out Saturday afternoon and was deadlocked in a defensive battle until the waning minutes of the final overtime period before Mankin ended Corban's weekend on a high note with its ninth win of the season.

The opening 104-plus minutes were a battle between two highly scoring offenses that did not produce a single goal on the scoreboard. With just over five minutes remaining in the game, Mankin took a crossing pass from junior Rachel Cole (San Ramon, Calif.) and deposited a 10-yard shot into the back of the net for the game-winner.

Sophomore Emily Tsugawa (Gladstone, Ore.) would lead the Warriors' offense with five shots, including four on-goal, while freshman goalkeeper Alexis Beattie (Brea, Calif.) kept Corban in the game with a career-high 12 saves in between the pipes.

Southern Oregon was led on the offensive end by Stephanie Carr, who tallied four shots to go along with a defensive stand by the Raiders' goalkeeper Jessica Kuehlwein who had eight saves on the afternoon despite suffering the loss.

With today's win, Corban improves to 9-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Southern Oregon drops to 7-2-2 overall and 1-1-0 in league games. The Warriors will return to the field on Friday, October 8th, against the visiting Knights of Warner Pacific beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Warrior Field.
