Sullivan & Tsugawa Lead Warriors Over Knights

BOX SCORE

PORTLAND, Ore. – Sophomore Audrey Sullivan (Puyallup, Wash.) and junior Emily Tsugawa (Gladstone, Ore.) each tallied goals, as Corban's women's soccer team picked up a 3-0 victory over the Knights of Warner Pacific Monday at David Douglas High School.

Sullivan netted her team-leading eighth and ninth goals of the season, while Tsugawa scored her seventh goal of the year and assisted on both of Sullivan's goals. Sophomore net-minder Alexis Beattie (Brea, Calif.) registered a pair of saves in between the pipes for Corban en route to picking up her second straight shutout.

After a scoreless opening 27-plus minutes, Corban got on the scoreboard when Sullivan teamed on a perfectly placed pass from Tsugawa at the top of the box. Following the reception of the pass, Sullivan turned and shot the ball left of Warner Pacific's keeper for the eventual game-winner.

Corban, who controlled the offensive flow over the opening 45 minutes, took a slim one-goal lead into halftime before adding two more goals in the second half.

In the 63rd minute, Tsugawa took a looping cross from senior Amanda Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) and netted the Warriors' second goal from eight yards out for a 2-0 lead.

Sullivan would added her second goal and Corban's final score of the afternoon in the 82nd minute, as she teamed once again with Tsugawa on a centering pass behind the Knights' defense before she finished to the right of the keeper.

Offensively, Corban controlled all the statistical categories that included total shots (14-to-5), shots on goal (9-to-2), and corner kicks (9-to-1).

In between the pipes for Warner Pacific, Nikita Rivera registered a game-high six saves despite allowing all three goals.

With today's win, Corban improves to 8-6-0 overall and 3-3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference games. Meanwhile, Warner Pacific falls to 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-0 in league action. The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, October 22nd, against rival Northwest Christian beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Eugene.
