FINAL RESULTS
SEATTLE, Wash. – Corban's men's track & field team participated in the annual Club Northwest Spring Break Open, as the 4x400 meter relay team came within a mere 10 seconds of breaking the meet record winning the event in a blistering time of 3:30.29 Saturday at Husky Stadium.
Nine different Warriors posted Top 5 finishes and either qualified for the upcoming Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships or bettered the previous CCC-qualifying times or marks.
Senior
Ben Search (Battle Ground, Wash.) would begin Corban's day in the 1,500 meter run, as the fourth-year Warrior finished second overall thanks to a time of 4:09.38.
Next on the track for Corban was a pair of freshman runners –
Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.) and
Jordan Hatfield (Heppner, Ore.) – with the duo finishing fifth and eighth, respectively, in the 110 meter hurdles in times of 16.72 and 17.57.
In the 400 meter run, sophomore
Bryce Petersen (Salem, Ore.) turned in an eighth place showing thanks to a time of 52.62. Sophomore
John Trimble (Vancouver, Wash.) posted a 17th place finish with a time of 57.90, while assistant coach
Brad Bates competed as an unattached runner finishing 12th overall thanks to a time of 53.35.
Junior
Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.) would be the lone Warrior in the 800 meter run, as he finished third in a time of 1:57.27.
The 400 meter hurdles would feature a trio of Corban runners – senior
David Anderson (Salem, Ore.), Croft, and Hatfield – that posted three Top 10 finishes. Anderson would finish in third place thanks to a time of 56.90, while Croft ended in seventh with a time of 59.03 and Hatfield turned in a ninth place showing with a time of 1:00.73.
In the 5,000 meter run, sophomore
Taylor Adrian (Portland, Ore.) finished third with a time of 15:38.25 to go along with a fourth place showing by sophomore
David Brown (Meridian, Idaho) in a time of 15:44.31. Rounding out the Warriors was Trimble with a 20th place finish thanks to a time of 16:59.94.
Concluding the day was Corban's aforementioned 4x400 relay team, as the Warriors clocked the program's second-ever sub-3:31.00 time coming within 10 seconds of the meet record (3:20.20) that was set in 1994 by Simon Fraser University.
In the field events, freshman
James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.) and sophomore
Joash Pangilinan (Honolulu, Hawaii) began the day in the long jump with a fifth and 13th place showing, respectively, with leaps of 6.44 meters (21-feet, 1-50-inches) and 5.83 meters (19-feet, 1.50-inches).
Freshman
Mark Hanson (Happy Valley, Ore.) would compete in the javelin finishing third overall with a throw of 53.26 meters (174-feet, 9-inches), as he qualified for the upcoming CCC Championships in May.
In the triple jump, Myrvold and Pangilinan would step back onto the runway finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, with leaps of 12.86 (42-feet, 2.25-inches) and 12.79 meters (41-feet, 11.50-inches).
The discus event would feature a pair of Warrior freshman –
Zach Conlee (Milton-Freewater, Ore.) and
Kent Wilson (Bonney Lake, Wash.) – with the duo completing the event in ninth and 11th place, respectively, with throws of 33.32 (109-feet, 4-inches) and 31.51 meters (103-feet, 4-inches).
Closing out the meet for the Warriors were Conlee and Wilson in the shot put, as the pair finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with tosses of 11.25 (36-feet, 11-inches) and 10.81 meters (35-feet, 5.75-inches).
Corban's men's track & field team will return to action on Friday and Saturday, April 1st & 2nd, at the annual Willamette Invitational taking place at McCullough Stadium in Salem. The two-day event will start Friday at 4:00 p.m., while competition returns Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
