FINAL RESULTS
PORTLAND, Ore. – Corban's men's track & field team finished 12th overall at the Lewis & Clark Invitational Saturday at Griswold Stadium, as freshman
Mark Hanson (Happy Valley, Ore.) captured the javelin title with a school-record throw of 55.05 meters.
Thirteen different Warriors compete at Eldon Fix Track in the Rose City, as eight individuals posted Top 10 finishes.
Sophomore
Joash Pangilinan (Honolulu, Hawaii) began the day for Corban competing in the 100 meter dash, as Pangilinan finished 31st overall in a time of 11.92.
Next up for the Warriors were sophomores
Bryce Petersen (Salem, Ore.) and
Taylor Wilkins (Milwaukie, Ore.) in the 200 meter dash, as Petersen finished 36th overall in a time of 24.64 and Wilkins turned in a time of 24.71 that was good enough for 38th overall.
Petersen and Wilkins would remain on the track for Corban joined by fellow sophomore
Seth James (Snyder, Colo.) in the 400 meter dash, as James posted a ninth place finish in a time of 50.76 followed by Petersen's 19th place showing thanks to a time of 52.81 and Wilkin's 24th place finish with a time of 53.59.
In the 800 meter run, junior
Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.) and senior
Ben Search (Battle Ground, Wash.) would finish fifth and 10th overall with Goins posting a time of 1:56.92 along with Search's time of 1:58.89.
Search would remain on the track for the Warriors competing in the 1,500 meter run, as the fourth-year Corban runner would conclude the event in 13th place thanks to a time of 4:05.20.
In the 5,000 meter run, sophomore
David Brown (Meridian, Idaho) and junior
Kevin Coriano (Anchorage, Alaska) would close out the event in ninth and 26th place, respectively, as Brown posted a time of 15:44.43 and Coriano turned in a time of 17:01.43.
The first of two hurdles events in which freshmen
Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.) and
Jordan Hatfield (Heppner, Ore.) competed in was the 110 meter hurdles with Croft finishing ninth thanks to a time of 16.48 followed by Hatfield's 17th place showing with a time of 17.23.
Both freshman would remain on the track running in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, as Croft and Hatfield both finished in the Top 10 thanks to a time of 57.48 for Croft that resulted in a sixth place showing followed by Hatfield's ninth place finish in a time of 59.18.
Sophomore
John Trimble (Vancouver, Wash.) was the lone Corban runner to compete in the 5,000 meter run, as the second-year Warrior finished seventh overall thanks to a time of 10:30.26.
Closing out the track events was the 4x100 meter relay, as Corban's 'A' team finished ninth overall with a time of 44.96. The team consisted of Pangilinan, James, Hatfield, and freshman
James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.).
In the field events, Pangilinan stepped onto the runway in the long jump and finished 11th overall thanks to a leap of 6.16 meters (20-feet, 2.50-inches).
Freshman
Zach Conlee (Milton-Freewater, Ore.) would take part in three field events beginning with the shot put, as the first-year Warrior finished 24th overall with a throw of 11.64 meters (38-feet, 2.25-inches).
Conlee would next step into the circle for the discus, as he unleashed a throw of 35.45 meters (116-feet, 4-inches) that was good enough for a 21st place showing.
In the hammer throw, Hanson and Conlee competed for the Warriors finishing 22nd and 25th, respectively, with throws of 34.92 meters (114-feet, 7-inches) and 33.63 meters (110-feet, 4-inches).
Hanson would close out the Warriors' day with his gold medal winning performance in the javelin, as he posted the ninth best toss in the Cascade Collegiate Conference this season bettering his previous season best by just over 0.50 meters. Hanson would unleash a school-record throw of 180-feet, 7-inches (55.05 meters) to win the event by just over four feet.
Corban's men's track & field team will return to action on Saturday, April 30th, at the Pacific Twilight beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Forest Grove. That event will be the Warriors' final tune up before this season's CCC Championships in mid-May.
