Warriors End Competition at Willamette Invite

FINAL RESULTS

SALEM, Ore. – Corban's men's track & field team closed out competition at the annual Willamette Invitational Saturday at McCullough Stadium, as four runners bettered their previously set qualification marks for this year's conference championship meet.

On the second and final day of competition at Charles Bowles Track, freshman Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.) set a pair of season best times in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. Two other Warriors – junior Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.) and sophomore Seth James (Snyder, Colo.) – also set new season marks, as Goins ran the second fatest time in the league in the 800 meter run and James posted the fastest time this year in the 400 meter dash.

The day began for Corban with freshman Mark Hanson (Happy Valley, Ore.) taking part in the javelin, but did not earn a mark in three attempts.

Next up in the field events was freshman James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.) in the high jump, as the first-year Warrior finished tied for fourth overall after clearing the bar at 1.83 meters (6-feet).

Myrvold quickly went from the high jump pit to the long jump where he finished one spot behind sophomore Joash Pangilinan (Honolulu, Hawaii), who ended in fifth place thanks to a leap of 6.25 meters (20-feet, 6.25-inches). Myrvold was a mere 0.02 meters behind Pangilinan, as he registered a jump of 6.23 meters (20-feet, 5.25-inches) and finished sixth overall.

In the triple jump, freshman Jordan Hatfield (Heppner, Ore.) finished tied for seventh overall after registering a leap of 12.58 meters (41-feet, 3.25-inches).

Moving to the track, Croft stepped into the starting blocks for the 110 meter hurdles where he finished 16th overall thanks to a time of 16.34. The first-year Warrior clocked the seventh fastest time in the conference this season and set a new school-record in the process.

In the 400 meter dash, James finished 15th overall with a time of 51.04 clocking the third fastest time in school history and the fastest time so far this season in the league.

A trio of Warriors – Goins, senior Ben Search (Battle Ground, Wash.), and sophomore Taylor Adrian (Portland, Ore.) – would take part in the 800 meter run, as Goins finished eighth in a time of 1:57.00 to set a new school-record and clocked the second fastest time in the CCC this season. Search, who finished 19th overall, turned in a time of 1:59.34 to qualify for this season's CCC Championships, while Adrian was 26th overall thanks to a time of 2:00.20.

In the 400 meter hurdles, senior David Anderson (Salem, Ore.) would lead the Warriors with a ninth place finish thanks to a time of 57.46. Croft and Hatfield both finished in the Top 20, as Croft clocked a time of 58.36 to finish 12th and Hatfield ended 18th with a time of 1:01.58.

The final event of the day featured the 4x400 meter relay, as Corban's 'A' team finished eighth overall thanks to a time of 3:26.33. The Warrior team that consisted of Anderson, Search, sophomore Bryce Petersen (Salem, Ore.), and Goins crossed the finish line first in Heat #2, while ending behind fellow CCC members Southern Oregon (3rd) and Concordia (7th).

Corban's men's track & field team will be back in action on Friday, April 8th, at the Northwest Relays beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Oregon City.
