Warriors Finish 3rd at Pacific Northwest Relays

FINAL RESULTS

OREGON CITY, Ore. – Corban's men's track and field team finished third overall at the annual Pacific Northwest Relays Friday at Oregon City High School, as three Warriors met the minimum qualification mark for this year's CCC Championships.

The Warriors scored 59 total points finishing behind relay winner and co-host Warner Pacific (105 points) and Clackamas Community College (95 points). After Corban, the remaining teams were the University of Portland (52 points), the University of Oregon Running Club (20 points), Bowerman Athletic Club (6 points), and The Evergreen State College (1 point).

Freshman Mark Hanson (Happy Valley, Ore.) led the Warrior contingent with a second place finish in the javelin thanks to a CCC qualifying throw of 54.67 meters (179-feet, 4-inches). The first-year Warrior missed the NAIA's 'B' qualification standard by less than two meters.

Freshmen Zach Conlee (Milton-Freewater, Ore.) and Kent Wilson (Bonney Lake, Wash.) both competed in the shot put and discus events, as Conlee finished second and seventh respectively with throws of 11.73 meters (38-feet, 6-inches) and 32.34 meters (106-feet, 1-inch). Wilson would conclude the two events in sixth and ninth place, respectively, with tosses of 10.54 meters (34-feet, 7-inches) and 30.25 meters (99-feet, 3-inches).

Following Hanson's javelin throw, freshman Jordan Hatfield (Heppner, Ore.) and sophomore Joash Pangilinan (Honolulu, Hawaii) stepped onto the runway for the triple jump with Hatfield finishing fifth thanks to a leap of 12.56 meters (41-feet, 2.50-inches) and Pangilian ending in sixth place with a mark of 12.23 meters (40-feet, 1-50-inches).

Freshman James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.) would be next on the track for Corban, as the first-year Warrior competed in the high jump finishing fourth overall after clearing the bar at 1.80 meters (5-feet, 10.75-inches).

Rounding out the field events for Corban was sophomore John Trimble (Vancouver, Wash.) in the pole vault. The second-year Warrior posted the program's first-ever result in the pole vault finishing fifth overall after clearing the bar at 2.55 meters (8-feet, 4.25-inches).

In the relay events, Corban entered three teams into the 800 meter sprint medley with the Warriors' No. 2 team finishing second thanks to a time of 1:37.41. Corban's 'A' and 'C' teams concluded the race in fifth and sixth place, respectively, with times of 1:43.48 and 1:49.72.

The 4x800 meter relay featured one team from Corban, as the Warriors finished third overall thanks to a time of 8:08.19.

In the 200 meter dash, senior David Anderson (Salem, Ore.) finished fifth overall thanks to a time of 23.17 to lead Corban. Three other Warriors – sophomore Bryce Petersen (Salem, Ore.), sophomore Joseph Summers (Canby, Ore.), and sophomore Jefferson Forrest (Springfield, Ore.) – competed in the race, as the trio finished 14th, 17th, and 18th respectively.

Corban would next run in the distance medley, as the Warriors finished sixth overall thanks to a time of 11:08.38.

In the 110 meter hurdles, freshman Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.) placed second thanks to a time of 16.25 to go along with a sixth place finish by Hatfield and a eighth place showing by freshman Chris McGehee.

The final event of the evening would feature Trimble in the 3,000 meter run, as he finished seventh overall in a time of 10:08.27.

Corban's men's track and field team will be back in action on Saturday, April 16th, at the Lewis & Clark Invitational beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Portland.
