FINAL RESULTS | TEAM SCORES
GRESHAM, Ore. – Corban's men's track & field team finished seventh overall at the 2011 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships with a score of 34 points Saturday at Earl Klapstein Stadium on the campus of Mt. Hood Community College.
Freshman
James Myrvold (Sandy, Ore.) turned in the best performance of the day with a runner-up finish in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.96 meters (6-feet, 5-inches). Despite tying for the conference championship, Myrvold lost the gold medal when it took him two attempts to clear the height of 1.91 meters. The first-year Warrior would settle for an all-conference recognition in the event ending the three-day championship as the lone member of Corban's team to earn a post-season award.
Myrvold, sophomore
Joash Pangilinan (Honolulu, Hawaii), and freshman
Jordan Hatfield (Heppner, Ore.) would lead off the final day of competition for the Warriors in the triple jump. The freshman pair of Myrvold and Hatfield would finish sixth and seventh, respectively, with jumps of 12.79 meters (41-feet, 11.50-inches) and 12.76 meters (41-feet, 10.50-inches). Meanwhile, Pangilinan would not register a mark fouling on all six attempts.
Freshman
Zach Conlee (Milton-Freewater, Ore.) would be next up for the Warriors competing in the shot put finishing 18th overall with a toss of 10.90 meters (35-feet, 9.25-inches).
After Myrvold's performance in the high jump, senior
Ben Search (Battle Ground, Wash.) and junior
Caleb Goins (Scio, Ore.) would move to the track and take part in the 800 meter run. The Warrior duo would finish sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 1:54.77 and 1:55.80. Search missed the NAIA 'B' qualification time by a mere 0.27 seconds and nearly qualified for this year's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships missing the automatic time by 1.27 seconds.
In the 400 meter hurdles, four Warriors – senior
David Anderson (Salem, Ore.), Hatfield, freshman
Kyle Croft (Spokane, Wash.), and sophomore
Seth James (Snyder, Colo.) – finished 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th, respectively. The quartet clocked times of 57.73, 58.44, 58.46, and 59.29 seconds.
Freshman
Mark Hanson (Happy Valley, Ore.) would be the last Warrior to compete taking part in the javelin, as the first-year Corban athlete unleashed a NAIA 'B' qualification throw of 57.81 meters (189-feet, 8-inches). Hanson would finish sixth overall en route to earning three team points.
Despite having one athlete qualify for the NAIA Championships, Corban will not be sending anyone back to Indiana and will now focus on the 2012 season.
