Corban's men's track & field team posted its highest finish of the season Saturday at the Cougar Open, as the Warriors finished behind Warner Pacific and Concordia in the team race.

Pair of School Records Set, Warriors 3rd at Cougar Open

FINAL RESULTS

CLACKAMAS, Ore. – Corban's men's track & field team finished third out of 15 teams Saturday at the Cougar Open hosted by Clackamas Community College, as a pair of school records were set in the triple jump and 200 meter dash.

In the final team totals, Warner Pacific won the event with 94 points followed by Concordia (69 points), Corban (58), Lane Community College (27), host Clackamas Community College (16), Western Oregon (16), Southwestern Oregon Community College (15.50), Bowerman Athletic Club (10), Skagit Valley Community College (10), Central Washington (10), Western Washington (7), Run Portland (7), New Hope Christian College (3), O2 Endurance (2), and Central Oregon Community College (1).

Freshman Jacob Ybarra would set a new school-record in the triple jump, as he registered a distance of 13.20 meters (43-feet, 3.75-inches) to win the event. Fellow freshman Brett Johnson would also post a new school-record in the 200 meter dash thanks to a time of 22.20 seconds that was good enough for a third place showing.

The day would begin with freshman Jack Lander competing in the hammer throw, as he finished 11th overall with a throw of 34.05 meters (111-feet, 8-inches).

In the discus, junior Taylor Wilkins finished sixth thanks to a throw of 35.54 meters (116-feet, 7-inches). Meanwhile, a trio of Warriors – freshman Zach Conlee, Lander, and sophomore Jordan Hatfield – all finished in the Top 15 clearing the 29-meter mark (95-feet).

Conlee would also compete in the shot put finishing eighth overall with a throw of 11.52 meters (37-feet, 9.50-inches), while Wilkins was the lone Warrior in the high jump finishing sixth after clearing the bar at 1.70 meters (5.feet, 7-inches).

Along with Ybarra's record-setting performance in the triple jump, Hatfield was the runner-up after registering a leap of 13.02 meters (42-feet, 8.75-inches).

Hatfield would also compete in the pole vault finishing fourth overall after clearing the bar at 3.50 meter (11-feet, 5.75-inches) to close out Corban's field competitors.

In the 1,500 meter run, freshman John Weber finished ninth overall in a time of 4:16.11 to go along with a 12th place showing by junior John Trimble with a time of 4:22.26.

Sophomore Kyle Croft would post a fifth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles thanks to a time of 15.79 seconds, while freshman Chris Doxtator and Hatfield finished eighth and ninth, respectively, with times of 16.84 and 17.08 seconds.

In the 400 meter run, senior Caleb Goins finished seconds with a time of 50.96 seconds to go along with a trio of Warriors – senior Erik Cronrath, senior Ben Search, and freshman Seth West – that all finished in the Top 6 after eclipsing the 53-second mark.

Johnson would begin his day in the 100 meter dash, as he finished fourth overall in a time of 11.16 seconds that was less than one second ahead of Ybarra's 12th place showing with a time of 11.50 seconds.

Four Warriors – freshman Austin Koos, Weber, junior Bryce Petersen, and Trimble – would compete in the 800 meter run, as Koos won the event in a time of 1:58.59 seconds. The aforementioned trio all finished in the Top 11 surpassing the 2:09-mark.

In the 400 meter hurdles, Croft finished second in a time of 57.44 seconds to go along with a third place showing by Wilkins after he posted a time of 58.04 seconds. Three other Warriors – Hatfield, sophomore Chris McGehee, and Doxtator – also competed in the event, as the entire trio finished in the Top 10 eclipsing the 1:03-mark.

Next up would be Johnson's record-setting performance in the 200 meter dash, as West also took part finishing 14th with a time of 24.02 seconds.

Concluding competition for Corban was the Warriors' 4x400 meter relay team, as the quartet finished second in a time of 3:23.83.

Corban will return to action on Friday, April 27th, at the Pacific Twilight beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Forest Grove.
