SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Soccer team has had trouble finding the net this season, and today's match against Northwest Christian University (NCU) was no different, as the Warriors fell to the Beacons, 1-0.

Corban fell behind early in the game, with Gianna Rains scoring the lone goal for the Beacons in just the 7th minute. The Warriors pressed the defense looking for the equalizer, but couldn't quite connect for a goal, drawing offside penalties nine times throughout the match.
Corban was outshot by Northwest Christian 12-5, with the Beacons putting eight of those shots on target.
Five different players registered shots off the bench for the Warriors in Friday's defeat.
After today's loss, Corban has dropped three straight matches by the tally of 1-0, and has five such games on the season. The result marks the first-ever loss to Northwest Christian in program history.
"We have to find a way to score," said Head Coach Marty Ziesemer. "We are giving some great effort and playing hard. NCU should get some credit as they scored early and held firm, giving us limited chances. I have to keep working to motivate and build up the confidence in the team and find a way to put the ball in the net. Only giving up one goal a game the last three games should mean that we have a chance to win and that is not happening right now."
With the defeat, Corban drops to 3-8 (1-4 CCC), while NCU improves to 1-8-1 (1-4 CCC). The Warriors return to action next Friday when they host The College of Idaho at 3 p.m. at Warrior Field.
