Corban Volleyball Falls on Senior Night to No. 15 Southern Oregon

SALEM, Ore. – In the final regular-season contest of the 2015 campaign, the Corban University volleyball team fell to No. 15 Southern Oregon University in straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-16). With the defeat, Corban will play as the No. 5 seed in the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament and will take on No. 4-seeded Northwest University on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Kirkland, Wash. in a quarterfinal match.

"SOU is a very good team and we came out strong in the first set, but we just couldn't keep our intensity throughout the match. We are looking forward to regrouping and coming out strong on Tuesday against Northwest," said head coach Kim McLain.

With the victory, SOU earned a bye to the semifinals and will head straight to the host school of the CCC Tournament, Eastern Oregon University. Details for the tournament:

On the evening for Corban, sophomore outside-hitter Amber Parker (Albany, Ore.) totaled a team-best 17 kills, while freshman setter Madison McLain (Albany, Ore.) recorded 31 assists for the Warriors. Defensively, sophomore libero Haley Wells (Albany, Ore.) notched a team-best 15 digs. As a team, the Warriors hit for just a .132 clip, notching their best mark in the first stanza at .244.

The Raiders pulled away in the first set after leading 17-16 to win the set by five points. SOU then continued to fire at an efficient offensive pace, ultimately running away with the second and third sets by eight and nine points, respectively. Corynn Kopra led the way for the Raiders with a 12-kill performance, while Tyana Andrews totaled 10 kills for SOU. Dishing out the assists for the Raiders was Lauren McGowne, as she registered 37 assists on the evening in the victory. Moreover, Ashlyn Flynn notched a team-best 17 digs for the Raiders.

Prior to the match, Warrior senior Kelsey Wright (Beaverton, Ore.) was honored in a pregame ceremony, thanking her for all of her efforts throughout her career at Corban.
