Warrior Volleyball Edges Evergreen on the Road in Four-Set Battle

OLYMPIA, Wash. - On Friday evening, the Corban University Volleyball team won its fourth-straight Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) match for the first time since 2007, and for only the second time since 2001, defeating The Evergreen State College in the process. The Warriors won in four sets (27-25, 25-27, 25-17, 25-22), extending their winning streak and moving above .500 in CCC play for the year.

"It was great to get another victory under our belt," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "Evergreen played scrappy and was very smart offensively! I was proud of how our girls fought together as a team and came through for the victory!"

In the first stanza, Corban and Evergreen rallied and went back and forth throughout the set, but Corban took a 24-22 lead and looked to finish off the Geoducks. Evergreen fought back, however, resulting in the game going past 25-25. The Warriors, though, finished strong in the set and scored two-straight points to close out and take a one-set lead.

In the second stanza, it was much of the same in a tightly-contested match, and this time it was Evergreen getting the better of the Warriors, flip-flopping the score and winning, 27-25.

Corban responded with improving attack percentages in the third and fourth sets, however, hitting for a .294 clip in the third and then a .316 percentage in the fourth, resulting in comfortable set victories and the match triumph.
