Zhividze Hat Trick Lifts No. 18 Corban Men’s Soccer to 8-0 Win at Walla Walla

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Junior forward Timur Zhividze scored a hat trick on Friday afternoon for the No. 18-ranked Corban University men's soccer team, lifting the Warriors to a dominating 8-0 win on the road at Walla Walla University. For Corban, the eight-goal margin of victory was the largest in 12 years dating back to October of 2004.

"We were happy to be able to spread out time to many deserving players," said Corban head coach Aaron Lewis. "We were also pleased that our play was consistent throughout the afternoon, and we were able to get on the board frequently, and made it out healthy. The guys are in good spirits tonight and are looking forward to being together again tomorrow."

In the win, Corban held a 29-1 shots advantage, dominating from start to finish. Junior forward Rolando Velazquez initiated the offensive flurry in the 7th minute when he blew past two defenders and blasted the ball into the back of the net to put the Warriors in front, 1-0. Sophomore forward Nic Farr then made it 2-0 a couple of minutes later with a shot into the bottom-right corner of the net for his first goal of the 2016 campaign.

Zhividze then went to work, scoring in the 16th and 23rd minutes to make it a 4-0 contest at the half. Zhividze completed his first-career hat trick with the Warriors in the second stanza, finding the back of the net for the third time to make it a 5-0 lead for Corban.

Senior forward Bobby Hutchin got in on the scoring frenzy when he finished off a nice passing sequence in the 81st minute, scoring his fourth goal of the 2016 campaign off an assist from fellow senior, Westley Coleman. Coleman then scored his first goal of the year in the 83rd minute of play, and junior midfielder Travez Whyte capped off the big offensive display with a beautiful header goal in the 89th minute.

The Warrior defense and goalkeeping crew was not forced to make one save in the dominant Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) victory.

Corban (11-2, 6-2 CCC) returns to the pitch tomorrow when it takes on Multnomah University in Portland. Kickoff for the CCC match at Delta Park is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
