CORVALLIS, Ore. – Despite a promising second half, the Corban University men's basketball team dropped its exhibition match-up against NCAA Division I Oregon State University on Friday evening by a score of 96-58. However, this contest will not count towards Corban's overall record due to being an exhibition game.
"It was great for our guys to compete against a Pac-12 team," said Corban head coach Austin Johnson. "I'm thankful to Coach Tinkle and his staff. These opportunities not only make us a better team, but are a fun environment for our players. We're searching for an answer to our shooting woes, but we did a much better job of trying to get the ball inside. We played a solid second half and that's definitely a positive moving forward into two big games next week."
With a tough opposition such as Oregon State, the Warriors gained valuable experience moving forward. Despite a losing effort, senior Caleb Herzberg led Corban scorers with 11 points, while junior Caleb Dozier finished with a team-high three assists.
Corban (1-2) return to action next week, as it faces New Hope Christian College on Wednesday, Nov. 9. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Eugene, Ore.
