SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Despite outshooting the Battlin' Bears on Friday afternoon in a Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Tournament Quarterfinal, the Corban University women's soccer team was eliminated from the tournament as Rocky Mountain College advanced via a penalty-kick shootout following a 1-1 tie. With the result, Corban's season came to an end.

"The girls had a great season, and it was unfortunate that we could not get a win today," said Corban University head women's soccer coach Likius Hafeni. "We came back from down a goal and played well in the second half. I hope we can build on all of the good work we have done this season."
Rocky Mountain opened the scoring in the second half in the 49th minute to take the lead, but the Warriors would not go down without a fight.
Corban pressed offensively for the remainder of the second half, and after senior forward Randi Donahue laced a shot off of the crossbar, a goal seemed destined for the Warriors.
That goal finally came in the 79th minute of play when Donahue played a cross into the box, and freshman midfielder Annouscka Kordom headed the ball perfectly into the far side of the net, tying the contest at 1-1.
The score would remain that way at the end of regulation, sending the CCC Tournament quarterfinal into golden goal overtime periods. Corban came closest in the second overtime, as while racking up four shots, the Warriors had a shot headed for the side netting with less than a minute left, but a great save was made by Rocky Mountain, sending the match to penalty kicks.
After the sides traded a few makes and misses in the penalty kick shootout, it went into extra kickers, going all of the way until the ninth kicker. The Battlin' Bears ultimately came out on top, 8-7, advancing to the CCC Tournament semis.
For the match, Corban outshot Rocky Mountain, 22-9, and tallied five corner kicks to just two for Rocky.
The Warriors finish the 2016 season with a 12-6-1 overall mark.
