Palos Height, Ill. – For the first time during the 2016 campaign, the Corban University women's soccer team failed to score a goal in a match, ultimately resulting in a 2-0 defeat against Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Monday afternoon.
"We tried to battle the heat and came up short," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We are very satisfied with what we accomplished over the last few days. We are looking forward to the upcoming games!"
The Trolls scored in the 27th minute to take the initial lead, and then sealed the deal in the 83rd minute with a second goal, resulting in the two-goal triumph.
For the match, Trinity Christian (3-1) outshot Corban, 9-8, and held the corner-kick edge, 4-2.
The Warriors seemed to be threatening for almost the entirety of the second half, but good last-second defensive plays or goalkeeper saves kept the Warriors out of the back of the net, resulting in the defeat. Senior forward Randi Donahue (Bellingham, Wash.) led Corban with two shots.
Corban (2-3) returns home for a match on Saturday vs. Northwestern College (Iowa) at Warrior Field on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available on Warrior TV.
