OLYMPIA, Wash. – Seven matches. Seven straight sweeps. The No. 12-ranked Corban University volleyball team hasn't lost a set in nearly a month, sweeping The Evergreen State College on Friday night (25-20, 25-15, 25-13) on the road to make it seven-consecutive wins in Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) play.
"It is exciting to see the team focusing on each opponent, staying with our game plan throughout the match, and finishing strong," said Corban head coach Kim McLain.
The winning formula remained consistent for the Navy and Gold, as the Warriors were efficient offensively and dominant defensively. Corban swung for a .306 clip offensively in the victory as a team, while defensively, Corban held Evergreen to just a .121 hitting mark. At the net, Corban notched eight total team blocks to just four for Evergreen.
The stat of the night certainly came on the defensive side, as it was Haley Wells that racked up an incredible 24 digs in just the three sets, averaging eight digs per set. It was a solid all-around team effort though, as everyone got in on the action defensively, with all but one player recording a dig.
Offensively, Marandah Boeder tallied 11 kills on a .478 hitting mark, while Amber Parker racked up a team-best 13 kills on a .314 hitting percentage.
Madison Milligan dished out a team-high 22 assists, while Cierra Leopoldino totaled 17 assists in the triumph for the Navy and Gold.
Corban (17-6, 12-2 CCC) returns to the hardwood tomorrow night at Northwest University at 7 p.m. to close out the road trip.
