Warrior Women’s Basketball Falls in Exhibition to NCAA DI Boise State

BOISE, Idaho – The Corban University women's basketball team kept things close early on Sunday with NCAA Division I foe, Boise State University, but the Broncos used a big run to close out the first half and begin the second half en route to downing the Warriors, 94-50. For Corban, as it was an exhibition contest, the loss did not count against the Warriors' overall record.

"We played well early, but just couldn't score," said Corban head coach Michelle Skyles. "We were down seven with about three minutes to go in the first half, and then they went on a 14-0 run. They were so long and fast, but when we competed, we did some great things."

Corban's Jordan Woodvine, who was playing against her former team on Sunday, lit up the scoreboard early for the Warriors, going 6-for-6 from the field to start the game for the Navy and Gold. Her efforts kept things close for the Warriors late into the first quarter as Corban trailed by just eight points, 22-14, but in the second quarter, Boise State used a 16-0 run to close the stanza and a 14-0 run to begin the third quarter, resulting in too big of a hole for the Warriors to climb out of, resulting in the 44-point defeat.

Individually, Woodvine finished the game with a team-leading 18 points, while Hannah Shore scored seven points.

"I'm proud of Jordan Woodvine for how well she played against her former team," said Skyles. "We did some good things and also have plenty of work to do."

For Boise State, Marta Hermida recorded just the second triple-double in program history, totaling 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.

As a team, the Warriors shot 28.8% % overall while Boise State shot 48.8% from the field. Corban committed 20 turnovers, while Boise State committed just 11 in the game.

Corban (2-3) opens up Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) action on Tuesday evening at home in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center against Northwest Christian University. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
