No. 10 Warrior Volleyball Closes out Regular Season with Five-Set Win over Owls

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Two road matches. Two come-from-behind five-set triumphs for the No. 10-ranked Corban University volleyball team. On Saturday, night, it was the Oregon Tech Owls that could not stop the Warriors from overcoming the two-set deficit to rally for the thrilling five-set win (26-28, 23-25, 25-23, 25-9, 15-10).

"We struggled early defensively and committed too many unforced errors," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "In the final sets, our defense stepped up both at the net and in the back court, making the difference in the final three sets."

The victory extends Corban's win streak to five-straight matches to close out the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) regular season. Next up, the Warriors will serve as the No. 1 seed in the CCC Tournament, in which the Warriors will host the semifinals and championship match on Friday and Saturday, November 10-11. All three matches will be played at the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

College of Idaho is locked in as the No. 2 seed, while EOU is hosting NCU on Tuesday night in a quarterfinal, and Northwest is hosting SOU in a quarterfinal also on Tuesday. The winners of those matches will advance to the semis on Friday in Salem.

In the triumph on Saturday night, Alaina Gentili led the way with 17 kills, while Adrianna Aguayo and Marandah Boeder both tallied 12. Gentili and Boeder were also both dominant at the net with eight blocks between the two, while Demi Winters also added three blocks.

Madison Milligan racked up a team-best 37 assists in the victory, while Haley Wells totaled 19 digs to lead the way in the back row defensively.

Corban swung for a .250 clip as a team in the win offensively, while holding Oregon Tech to just a .169 hitting mark defensively.
