SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The No. 10-ranked Corban University volleyball team shocked No. 8-ranked Grand View University on Friday morning in the elimination bracket of the NAIA Volleyball Championships, winning in five sets (24-26, 26-24, 25-19, 21-25, 17-15) to advance to the NAIA Championship Quarterfinals later today. For the Warriors, it marks the first time in program history Corban has advanced to the national quarterfinals.

"I am so proud of this team and how they fought for every point," said Corban head coach Kim McLain. "Their grit and determination was incredible, never giving up! Blocking and back-court defense was key today!"
In Corban's last 10 five-set matches, the Warriors are now 10-0.
While playing in some of the longest rallies in program history, the Warriors set a new program record with 142 total team digs, and it was Lauren Condon who had a career-best defensive match, racking up 35 digs herself. On what seemed to be every point having marathon rallies, Haley Wells also tallied 27 digs, Amber Parker 25 digs, Madison Milligan 16 digs, and Cierra Leopoldino 15 digs.
Parker led the way offensively with 19 kills, while Alaina Gentili proved to be dominant at the net with 17 kills, nine block assists, and one solo block. Additionally, Condon added 12 kills and Marandah Boeder tallied 10. Moreover, rookie Demi Winters recorded was vital next to Gentili with nine block assists.
Milligan finished with 36 assists in the match, while Leopoldino notched 27.
As a team, the Navy and Gold hit at a .118 clip while holding Grand View (34-8) to a .101 hitting mark.
In the fifth and final set, Corban looked ready to claim the victory up 14-10, but Grand View battled back to tie it at 14-14. The two sides would exchange points before Corban then nabbed the decisive final two points, earning the first-ever win in the Final 16 in program history.
Corban (27-8) returns to the court this afternoon at 4 p.m. PST for a NAIA National Championship Quarterfinal match against #1-ranked Lindsey Wilson College. The match will have live stats/live video here. And once again, there will be a WATCH PARTY in the Riady Board Room on Corban's campus.
