Warrior Women’s Hoops Completes Season Sweep of Walla Walla on the Road

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Two games in two days – against the same team. The Corban University women's basketball team did exactly what it wanted to do over the weekend against the Walla Walla University Wolves, defeating the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) foe for the second-straight day to complete the season sweep of Walla Walla, winning 67-49 on Sunday.

"We got our second conference win today," said Corban head coach Michelle Skyles, "but we still have a lot of growing to do. Emily followed up her double-double yesterday with a repeated performance today. The road only gets tougher and it will be good to get Jordan Woodvine back soon."

Early in the contest, Corban built a seven-point lead that took the Warriors into the halftime break up 27-20. A 10-0 run to start the third quarter while outscoring the Wolves 20-8 in the stanza really put the game out of reach, as the Warriors went on to win by 17 points.

Maci Bozett led the way for Corban for the second-straight day, scoring 19 points with a trio of three-pointers made, while Emily Yost was again dominant in the post, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to go with her 5-for-7 shooting effort.

As a team, Corban shot 43.3% from the floor while holding Walla Walla to just a 35.4% shooting mark overall. The Warriors also dominated on the glass, grabbing 43 rebounds compared to just 22 for the Wolves.

Everyone who played in the contest for Corban scored, completing the all-around solid team effort in the weekend sweep of the Wolves.

For Walla Walla, Sarah Halversen scored a team-best 11 points, while Alyssa Blankenship added 10.

Corban (4-4, 2-1 CCC) returns to the court on Friday when it takes on cross-town rival, Willamette University, in a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
