KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The (RV) Corban University softball team responded in a big way on Tuesday following a pair of walk-off losses on Monday, as the Warriors downed No. 22 Oregon Tech in both games to earn the four-game series split. Corban won Tuesday's opener, 4-2, before then dominating the fourth game of the series in five innings, 9-0.
"I am really proud of how our team came out to play today," said Corban head coach Abigail Farler. "It was really great to see them respond to two tough losses yesterday and perform in all aspects of the game. They showed a lot of fight and fire today and played with a lot of confidence in our style of ball."
Oregon Tech claimed the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) series victory, two games to one, but the two teams split the overall series two games apiece. Corban now sits one game ahead of the Owls in the CCC standings with a month left in the regular season.

In Tuesday's opener, Allie Mendez provided an RBI single to center field in the second inning to give Corban the lead, but Oregon Tech's Sadie Birch hit a home run in the bottom half of the frame to tie it at 1-1.
The Warriors would then score three runs in the fourth, keyed by Sam Woodley's sacrifice fly to get things going and put the Warriors in front.
The Owls responded when Ali Graham ripped a home run to left-center to cut the lead to just two runs, but from that point forward, Corban's Sabrina Boyd closed the door on the Owls, finishing off the complete game win in the circle. Boyd scattered nine hits while giving up two runs and striking out four.
At the dish, Taylor Eilders led the way for the Warriors with a 2-for-4 showing, while for Oregon Tech's Katie Virtue went 3-for-4 in the defeat.
The fourth game of the series, the non-conference contest, saw Corban jump all over the Owls (17-7, 8-4 CCC) in the first frame with four runs to take a commanding advantage. The inning was highlighted by three RBI doubles from Iris Rodriguez, Woodley, and Mendez.
Still up 4-0 in the fifth inning, Corban added five more runs on the board to push the lead to 9-0, and ultimately Mendez finished the Owls off in the bottom of the fifth to complete the mercy-rule victory.
In a game that was completely dominated by the Navy and Gold, Maddy Melton went 4-for-4 at the plate with one run scored, while Rodriguez finished 3-for-3 at the dish with three doubles, two runs scored and one RBI. In addition, Mendez went 3-for-3 with two RBI while earning the win in the circle, giving up just three hits in the five-inning shutout win.
Corban (22-6, 9-3 CCC) returns to action on Saturday and Sunday when it hosts No. 18-ranked Southern Oregon University. First pitch both days is set for 12 p.m. at Warrior Field.
