GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Corban University women's soccer team closed out its conference-opening four-match road trip with a big-time performance against the University of Providence (Mont.), defeating the Argos, 2-0. The win keeps the Warriors undefeated through four Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matches.
"After yesterday's tough game, we were tired but managed to get a win," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "After our first goal, all we wanted to do was to get a second goal and manage the rest of the game. I am very proud of the girls and the way they played this weekend."
Julia Kashubin opened the scoring for the Warriors with a shot from 18 yards out, finding the back of the net to put Corban up 1-0 in the 11th minute. Lexi McQueary was credited with the assist on the play.
The Warriors took that lead into the halftime break, owning an 8-1 shots advantage.
In the second half, Corban sealed the triumph when Heidi Fronk fired it past the goalkeeper off a corner-kick, doubling Corban's advantage. Once again McQueary was credited with the assist.
In the victory, Corban boasted a 17-9 shot advantage and a 6-2 corner-kicks edge. Additionally, Sheyenne Brusven tallied two saves in the shutout victory.
The Warriors (6-3-1, 3-0-1 CCC) return home to the CFC Soccer Complex next weekend when it hosts Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon on Friday and Saturday.
