Warrior Men’s Basketball’s Comeback Bid Falls Short in Loss to Geoducks, 76-73

OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Corban University men's basketball team lost yet another heartbreaking Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) matchup on Friday, falling to the Evergreen State Geoducks, 76-73. The defeat marks the fourth-straight Warrior loss by three points or less.

"We did not come out with the necessary urgency and fight needed to win a Cascade Conference road game," said head coach Austin Johnson. "Credit to Evergreen for being the aggressor and having us on our heels for most of the game."

The Warriors did not hold the lead at any point during the contest. However, after trailing by as much as 24, the Navy and Gold responded valiantly, tying the game with just over a minute left in regulation.

"Our guys fought hard, but we need to be consistent for a full 40 minutes if we want to be successful moving forward," said Johnson.

Andrew Evans led the Warriors offensively, tallying 16 points with four rebounds and three assists. In addition, Joel Johnson (11 points, five rebounds), Beau Roggenbach (11 points, five rebounds), and Jett Sobotta (10 points) each finished with double-digit scoring efforts.

As a team, Corban shot 37.3% from the field, while going 10-30 from three-point range.

The Geoducks were sparked by an incredible individual effort from Pat Ling, who notched 31 points on five assists and three steals. Ryan Quigley was a force at the rim, adding 13 points to go alongside eight rebounds.

Evergreen (5-18, 4-10 CCC) shot lights-out throughout the evening, finishing with a 53.7% mark from the field, and going 3-6 from downtown in the victory.

Corban (12-10, 6-8 CCC) will look to bounce back on Saturday, as they prepare to take on Northwest University in another CCC road contest. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
