"I am proud of our guys tonight," said Corban head coach Mitch Freeman. "We needed all 45 minutes to get past a talented Seattle Mountaineers team! We were able to play a lot of guys in both halves!"
After holding the lead for much of the first half, the Mountaineers stormed back and finished the half with a flurry of points, taking a 41-39 lead into the locker room.
The second half turned into a three-point barrage from the Warriors, and in particular, Jaxon Hughes caught fire, nailing a trio of three pointers to get Corban back in front. In total , the Warriors hit 11 three-pointers for the game, but the Mountaineers provided the answer with 10 long-range efforts of their own, sending the contest to overtime.
In the overtime stanza, some gritty layups inside and clutch free-throw shooting late secured the triumph for the Navy and Gold.
Hughes finished 6-for-7 from the field with six made shots from downtown while also going 7-for-10 from the charity stripe for the team-best 25 points. AJ Hodges tallied 14 points to go with five boards and five assists and a pair of steals, while Chandler Cavell record 13 points and Joel Johnson 10 points.
Down low, Denis Kirichenko proved important with 13 rebounds and nine points.
