No. 15 Corban Men’s Soccer Edges Yotes in Idaho, 1-0

CALDWELL, Idaho – The No. 15-ranked Corban University men's soccer team finished out a key weekend road swing, earning all six points thanks to a 1-0 win over College of Idaho on Sunday. For Corban, it marks the first time that the squad has ever come home from that road trip with two wins and the full six points.

"We're ecstatic about earning six points on this trip," said Corban head coach Aaron Lewis, "but our team knows we weren't at our best today, and we'll need to continue to raise the bar heading into a challenging week ahead."

The shutout marks Corban's ninth blanking of an opponent on the year, as the Warriors won their 11th game during the 2018 season. The victory helps Corban keep pace with Southern Oregon University which still has not lost in conference play either.

Levan Zhividze scored the game-winner for the Navy and Gold in the eighth minute of play, burying his shot from close range off an assist from Kohl Hurtado. The goal marked the second time in as many games that Zhividze was able to find the back of the net on the road trip.

From that point on, the Warriors played their possession style of game, keeping C of I from creating too many chances, with the Yotes only recording one shot on goal for the match. That one shot, however, forced Jordan Salim into a big-time save, as he dove at full stretch in the final minutes to make the save and preserve the shutout.

Corban (11-1-1, 8-0-1 CCC) returns to the road next weekend when it travels back east to take on Eastern Oregon University. Kickoff on Friday is slated for 1 p.m.
