Warrior Women’s Soccer Unable to Upend Mountaineers in 1-0 Loss

LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Corban University women's soccer team hung tough on Friday with (RV) Eastern Oregon University, but the Warriors could not pull off the upset on the road, falling to the Mountaineers, 1-0.

"It was an even game in the first half," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We really wanted three points today, but unfortunately we conceded a goal that we have no control over. We will look to win our last two games and see what happens."

Both teams recorded six shots in the first half, but it was EOU that converted in the second half with a goal in the 49th minute of play, as Taylor Boyer scored for the Mountaineers.

EOU out-shot Corban in the second stanza, 9-3, limiting Corban to zero shots on goal for the match.

Hannah Shore, Megan Harvey, and Madison Veltkamp all notched two shots in the defeat for the Warriors.

Corban (7-8, 4-6 CCC) returns to the field next week for its last two home matches of the 2018 regular season. The Warriors host Multnomah on Friday night and Warner Pacific University on Saturday evening. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the CFC Soccer Complex both nights.
