ARCATA, Calif. – The Corban University women's soccer team fell against Humboldt State University (Calif.) in an exhibition on Tuesday afternoon, 2-0. The match marked the Warriors' second-straight year they had played the NCAA Division II foe.
"I am very happy with the way we played today even though we lost," said Corban head coach Likius Hafeni. "We did very well to concede the first goal by a set piece and the second goal was a great goal from our opponents. There is a lot of good we can take from this game and hopefully put this into practice in the next game."
Humboldt State scored late in the first half and midway through the second stanza to secure the win, but it wasn't without Corban firing off a few quality chances throughout the game. In total, the Warriors recorded seven shots while playing lockdown defense against the tough NCAA Division II squad.
Rylee MacDonald, Hannah Shore, and Ashlyn van der Linden all notched two shots apiece for the Navy and Gold.
Corban (1-0) returns to the field on Saturday when it takes on Willamette University. Kickoff at Sparks Field is set for 2 p.m.
